Tornadoes In Michigan
Its been an interesting time here in central michigan. Normally we get a winter that lasts for months and is very cold and full of snow. This year we just laughed at what we've been handed. The trouble is now its mid-march and already this month down in the southern states two tornadoes wiped out quite a bit of area and a few died in them. Four days ago I almost watched one form over my house, only to find one did touch down on Coleman road.
Michigan made it into the world news today with several more touching down and doing damage. I gotta wonder, if this keeps up, is Michigan going to be able to cope with this? We are not exactly used to being in tornado alley.

2012 - The Busy Year
New job and three classes this semester. Expect papers to be posted.
Btw, is it exactly a paper anymore if its mainly online?
Btw, is it exactly a paper anymore if its mainly online?
Response to a paper I had to read for class.
Children and youth. They are constantly described in the media as “the future” and the hope of the nation. Yet more and more studies are finding youth (children and adolescents) are growing up in dangerous neighborhoods, broken and abusive homes, and faced with constant pressure from society to be one thing and from media to be another. It is no surprise at all youth become confused and act out in a way that would be unacceptable to a normal adult.
In the article “Harm Reduction: Advice from Leaders in the Field” a program is described to help with a problem of adolescent homelessness across America and an outreach to help them. The trouble with the program is that it carries a Zero Tolerance policy on drug use. This means if an adolescent is using services and appears to be on drugs or has drugs, they are immediately disqualified and ejected from the program. The program(s) did not do so well with turning kids lives around until the zero tolerance policy was dropped.
This writing is in agreement of the dropped zero tolerance policy. Drugs and alcohol, albeit very harmful depending on what you are doing, have been the norm for people who could be described as “down and out”. A way of self-medicating and a reason to continue onto the next day. Many of these youth come from areas and perspectives where there is no hope of any kind of a future and therefore turn to drugs as a way to find meaning and social acceptance. Some youth also use them for stimulation. ADHD sufferers (which many of these youths have) require constant stimulation that only drugs and alcohol can provide, making the problem of drug abuse even harder to curb.
We live in a nation of unrealistic drug laws and views. Drug users are considered criminals and not people who need help. Children who use drugs are seen as a delinquent and need to be punished, which is what the zero tolerance concept is trying to accomplish. But, like most drug laws, it causes more failure and trouble than it prevents.
For instance a youth who has been on the streets for a year or more and has been actively using drugs in that time all of a sudden finds out about the Harm Reduction programs. That youth may take some time considering using the services to get off the street, building the nerve and openness to trust adults. That youth is not going to all of a sudden become abstinent of drugs (the only medicine he/she knows of) just to get into a program.
And how cruel is it when a youth is a little red-eyed from grass or shaking from heroin withdrawals comes in for help and is turned down simply because they have a buzz and have a certain chemical floating around in their bloodstream. You don’t quit drugs overnight.
By relaxing the zero tolerance policy of the facility, an environment opens up for the youth that is caring and helpful to their dilemma. By addressing the problems of the youth and putting them back on track with life, the drug problem becomes easier to treat and eventually overcome. Consideration must be taken into the fact that not all people can be fully treated for drug problems. This could also have a better impact on the community in the long run, especially if the treated you remain in the community for life.

I used a screwdriver
I used a screwdriver. It was in my hands and I put that object to action. The very action it was designed for; what its creator intended. To fit. And to fit with such a firmness that when THE HAND is turned, both screwdriver and object of fitting turn at the same time. Did they? Yes they did. The screw lodged firmly into its plywood home first held tight, but then slowly in unison THE HAND, the screwdriver, and then the screw followed its counter-clockwise journey. Like I said, I used a screwdriver. It kicked ass.

Jimmy vs. Mt Vinyl
Jimmy "Danger" Stallywagon did something interesting last week. Since the record store is closing people have been trying to buy what the've been wanting before it dissaperes. Jimmy decided to charge a shitload and pay it off over time. Thats not the interesting part.
The interesting part is the fact he bought FIFTY FUCKING POUNDS of vinyl. Almost all of them new. I won't even mention the bill. So if you can't find what your looking for, thats why.
In other news the new people in town are still here, but did not cause so much traffic problems as they did two days ago. In an effort to drowned out the barking from the neighbors visitors I mixed two albums together to cover the frequencies. For high end I mixed Whitehouse's first show with the bass covered by"Domkirke" from Sunn O))). Absoulute balls, as they both are live performances. Bennett's screaming sat well with the pipe organ drone, and the EDP wasps flew in and out of the guitar drones. And it killed the surrounding sound for around an hour so I'd say the experiment was a success.

They Really Packed Them In
Living on Old World brand Turdburgers. Yummy. Technically a cube steak cannot be classified as a greaseball, especially if it had to be defrosted. But ya down to that and rice, pancake mix, frozen veggies and a few other nick-nacks. Didn't really notice untill now. Like all good things however it will get stuck in my teeth eventually. Now snap to it!
Did you see mission st. on fucking friday? A hit and run plus two pileups in the same spot near B's. Retart freshmen. Yes I'm going to assume it was them seeing as traffic jumped up ten feet starting thursday night. I could even here the cops and parameds out that night. Sirens and barking dogs that is all we here. Then the occasional quiteness and wind and birds providing a nice contrast.
That is, untill I break out the Earth records.
The whole point of this is rambling. Rambling, babbling, zippity do da day. And why not? Why not let the brain droppings fall where they may and see what you have created. You'll probably create a monster and never want to look back again.

Chain Stores
Suggestive. I like that. I know its not directed toward me, but still nice to see the milk white skin underneath. Ripper is raving about abductors. I haven't listened to Jugulator in quite awhile. For a metal album this was very ahead for its time. It is very heavy and very metal. And I don't give a shit what anyone says about Ripper. He rips.
Johnson & Johnson? Sounds like more than brothers to me. They never got out of the bedroom, and then created a chain that looks like a fucking bedroom. The belts fall apart, I know that from experience. Oh wait, I was thinking of Sears. Sears & Sears. Sears fucks Robuck. Really hard. I think if you dig deep there would be a company charter with specific instructions for sears to fuck robuck in any which way it can. You outta see the paragraph about JC penny.
The dude keeps calling for his George Harrison CD. Persistent man he is. By the looks of things too Jimmy wrote all over the sign.
